I think I might go for a bit more realism and use a 3D graphics program to help create sprites instead of pixel art in Gimp.

I couldn't find a people animator that I liked that works on Linux, so I'm going to be using this little guy for my sprite.

The giant 4-leaf clover is not a part of my terrain tilemaps, it's generated the same way I will generate enemies. A stand alone object within the playing area.

I'm going to add controls so the player can pick up the clover and add it to the inventory leaving a stump. The player will be able to make potions that will help in completing various quests. I will make other objects in game that the player can pick up, move, add to inventory, etc.

This game might end up being just a practice thing to learn how to do these things.

I'm going to be adding mouse controls to this game. I want to be able to click on an object like the clover and have a popup menu ask what you want to do with it. I also want you to be able to make the guy walk around using mouse clicks instead of just arrow keys or WASD.

That is very cool.

I just got the mouse to work. I just need to come up with some math for the pathfinding that prevents the guy from going the wrong way and walking into walls.

Good progress Nitz!
As a side note, I´m in the early steps of game development too.
As an incentive to my daughter (9 years old) to go ahead with his course named Level Design (which includes basic steps of drawing, modeling, sculpting and game development) me and my wife solved to do the course too. Now, we are a team developing a game! So, sometime in the future I´ll have to de-rustfy my muscles and do some coding, a thing I don´t have made in the last 15 years... [rofl]

That's cool Starship. Is that course something online or just in your local area?
